Supporting 15,000 runners with generosity and passion
A great celebration thanks in part to the 175 pacers, big-hearted runners from Italy and abroad
The PACERS – Balloons at the ready for the 175 Pacers who will escort some 15,000 runners in the Acea Run Rome The Marathon.
HOW MANY ARE THERE – 175 pacers: 114 Italian pacers; 61 foreign pacers from 15 countries (besides Italy): Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, Hungary, the Philippines, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, the UK and the USA.
MISSION.
Being a pacer is a vocation where responsibility and satisfaction merge into one. The goal is to run a marathon while committing to lead a group to the finish line within a set time.
Pacers are always there to give advice and encouragement, set a steady pace, boost morale when times get tough, prepare their companions on the road for the next bend or rally cheers from the crowd. It’s an enormously generous role that ends in sight of the stopwatch, when for all the runners, exhaustion turns to joy. For the pacers, it turns into hugs of thanks for having made it and for having experienced a wonderful journey along with the group.
