AIRC
AIRC Foundation – Facing Cancer Together for 60 Years
Since 1965, the AIRC Foundation has been continuously supporting independent cancer research with the goal of turning scientific discoveries into effective treatments.
Through a rigorous and transparent selection process, AIRC funds the most promising ideas from both experienced researchers and young talents at every stage of their careers. This has contributed to a 54% increase in the number of people who have survived cancer (data based on 10-year survival rates from diagnosis between 2010 and 2020).
Over the past six decades, AIRC has allocated around €2.5 billion to thousands of research projects, currently supporting the work of approximately 5,400 researchers across 96 institutions, mostly public, throughout Italy.
A community of 4.5 million supporters, 20,000 volunteers, and 17 regional offices and committees ensures a widespread presence across the country.
An integral part of the AIRC ecosystem is IFOM, the Foundation’s Institute of Molecular Oncology, an internationally recognized research center that attracts scientists from all over the world.
AIRC also promotes a culture of prevention and shares research results through schools, universities, companies, and media platforms.
